This paper is a good way to bring in together Systems Theory and Sociology. If your background is more in the IS area, you will find their views very informative. There are many sources that you can explore later on your own, right now the reasong we are using Bouman et al. (2007) is to create a common understanding of this phenomeno in which we want to develop some professional skills.

Start you reading early so you have enough time to 'digest' it before you write your report.
